SPORTS INJURIES

Suffering from sports injuries?

We offer a variety of therapeutic sports medicine services. Whether it’s providing pain relief for aching muscles and joints, chiropractic care for neck pain and back pain, or physical rehabilitation for whiplash and other sports injuries, our chiropractor has the knowledge and skills to help keep you at the top of your game. Many sports enthusiasts turn to our chiropractor for sports medicine because of our all-natural approach to pain relief and wellness. They are looking for approaches that do not involve invasive surgery which may sideline them for long periods of time, or prescription drugs which may dull their reflexes or produce side effects that might slow them down.

Athletes may experience neck pain and back pain due to overexertion, or they may suffer whiplash or a herniated disk as a result of a collision. Sometimes they have suffered a broken bone and need to rehabilitate and rebuild their strength. When they come from Wayne to the chiropractic center for pain relief, our chiropractor first performs a thorough examination, which may include x-rays, to determine all underlying causes of pain. A treatment program is then developed which is specific to each athlete’s unique needs and sports goals.

Sports Medicine for Back Pain, Neck Pain and Improved Fitness Levels

When athletes suffer neck pain or back pain as a result of a sports injury, the first thing they want is pain relief. Dr. Tucker may provide this relief through a regimen of chiropractic care, physiotherapy and other therapeutic techniques. Chiropractic adjustments and manipulation may be used to realign the neck and spinal column. Spinal decompression may be recommended to help relieve pressure on the disks. This technique involves applying pressure directly to specific areas of the spine to achieve the decompression.

Athletes who are rehabilitating from an injury may need physiotherapy, or therapeutic exercise therapy, to help restore range of movement and improve flexibility. This is a supervised program of gently stretching and strengthening weakened muscles. Traction, or the use of weights to pull the spine or other areas, can help increase mobility and reduce pain. If you’re experiencing pain in your back due to the repetitive nature of sports, you may benefit from muscle stimulation. By applying gentle electrical currents to soft tissues, we can help decrease swelling and speed healing. Sometimes we may recommend massage therapy to reduce swelling and improve circulation. Moist heat and cold packs can be used to treat minor stresses and strains, while deep heat/ultrasound are used to penetrate further and relieve pain from injuries to shoulders, knees, and elbows.

Our goals are to eliminate your pain, provide corrective care, and help you maintain optimal health so you can function at your highest level. For maximum sports performance, schedule an appointment to speak with Dr. Chris Tucker to find a treatment program that works best for you.
